Sing it with me now

Let's just put an end to the whole Praise and Worship genre of music.

Attention douchey failures at normal music careers: I realize that it's an easy out, but have some fucking dignity. You and I both know that you conned some clueless minister in to paying you to "connect with the youth", but once those "youth" get past the age of 13, they'll realize what a tool you are and you will have, effectively, pushed them further away from your god.

It's not the religious aspect of Praise and Worship that bothers me, so much as the fact that every song, every lyric, every empty sentiment is voiced like a complete carbon copy of the previous. It's going through the motions in the most transparent way. It's 10,000 songs in the key of D that include the lyrics "lift your hands" and "shine" and "I will worship" and "rain down".

It bothers me for the same reasons that "R&B" and most rap bothers me.

It's just so goddamn insincere.

Stop it.

(incidentally, I saw someone's profile on Myspace that set off this whole thing. That's not to say that it hasn't bothered me before, I just couldn't think of anything interesting enough to write about at 12:30 AM on a Sunday )

You should let love reign in your life, you God-hating hippy. It's almost July 4, the day God gave America to the white people. And, that's plenty to be thankful for. Praise and worship isn't to please your yuppy sensibilities. It's not going to refill your latte. It's not buying you some America-hating gay-marriage iPhone.

Praise and worship may be an alternative to charity, but it's also an alternative to burning crosses and Jews, so count your skinny Jewish blessings.

All my love.
