I openly admit my ignorance.

Could someone explain to me, in summary form, the whole Palestinian/Israel/Jerusalem/Gaza Strip/Islamist/Hamas/we-somehow-have-rationalized-killing-women-and-children thing?

Seriously.

I need the condensed version because I'm having an incredibly difficult time grasping why this is such a "sacred" piece of land and how it is somehow worth all this.

On a moderately related note, Jen and I were watching the BBC news today and I commented on how different it was than watching CNN or Fox.

Jen said that's the difference between "journalists" and "newscasters".

I think she's dead on.

Michael, here is a very brief, very pragmatic history lesson on The Gaza Strip. There is nothing particularly "sacred" to either the Israelis or the Palestinians about this particular piece of land -- other than what warmongers have deemed sacred for thousands of years: pride, power, dominance, and greed:

Gaza Strip Synopsis

The West Bank, on the other hand, DOES hold religious/spiritual/ancestral significance to the Israelis, as the cradle of the Jewish Nation is derived from the time of King David in the region, the main Jewish religious sites and tombs are present there, and continuous Jewish communities have been concentrated in the area for a very long time.

I hope this at least helps give you some context, Micheal. Although "context" will NEVER explain why it's all somehow "worth" killing women and children over.

Michael, since when do you have a content warning on your page? Seriously, is it the critical debate or the "n-word"?
