It's the sequencing, I tell you.

Jen and I were discussing great albums on the drive back from Mr. "I Think Yelling at My Daugher is Awesome"'s house.

Albums that you can listen to in their entirety and at the end of the last song, you have to hit stop because if it starts back at the first song it won't seem right. These are the albums that you don't skip songs on. The ones that every song is part of the record as a whole.

You know, ALBUMS.

So, here are my favorites ( in no specific order ):

1. Throwing Copper by Live

I have no idea how this band derailed so miserably after this record. Everything they've put out since just pales in comparison.

2. Adam and Eve by the Catherine Wheel

The Catherine Wheel were just as good as early Radiohead but somehow didn't get the credit they were due.

3. Recovering the Satellites by Counting Crows

Definitely their peak. It's been downhill ever since. I'll go so far as to say their new album is downright bad. There are parts of the new record where I actually, physically cringe.

4. Dulcinea by Toad the Wet Sprocket

"Reincarnation Song" may be the best last song on any album ever.

5. The Bends by Radiohead

I appreciate their work after this, but they kinda quit writing songs and got all "arty". They could mic up Thom Yorke's ass for 20 minutes now and still go Platinum.

Anyone else want to throw out their favorites?

When i was 7 i thought every song on New Kids on the Block's Hanging Tough was fantastic?

Now I kind of really like Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Feel free to make fun of me. I deserve it.

I think the sequencing on "Hangin' Tough" was outstanding.

Wilco's o.k.

I still like "A.M." the best of all their records.

In closing, I am not cool.

The Crane Wife by Decemberists comes to mind, as well as Tori Amos's Little Earthquakes and The Sunset Tree by the Mountain Goats. You being the music guy, Michael, I'm wondering if you know/like the MGoats or Decemberists...
And thanks for the note on my blog, I apreciate it.

American Beauty, Grateful Dead
Gordon, Barenaked Ladies
The Road to Ensenada, Lyle Lovett
Sgt. Pepper etc etc, The Beatles

Tyson snagged my very favorite already, with The Sunset Tree. I played that disc in my car constantly for close to three months when I first got it, took a break for about a week, then did it again.

OK, I thought of a few more. Some of you might scoff, but whatever... :)

The Eminem Show -
Operation Mindcrime -
American Idiot -
Master of Puppets -

Yeah. That's pretty much it.

Ahh, I can always count on Travis. Always, always, always.

Not that there's anything wrong with being stuck in a decade. I think it's maybe inevitable, because I always said it would not happen to me, and it has. At least the decade I got stuck in doesn't suck.

I hate you, Travis.

I hate you with all the burning contempt of someone locked in the early to mid-90s.

God, I hate you.

You've already put a couple of my favorites in there - Dulcinea and Throwing Copper. The only other one I can think of right now is Soundgarden's Superunknown.

GAH! I should have thrown in a comment about buying a "Big Johnson" t-shirt at Gadzooks... but I think I got my point across.

I'm really surprised that there was no mention for cocked and loaded LA GUNS, SERIOUSLY! Other than that as far as i go i would say : jtb "orange rhyming dictionary", sleepercar "west texas", the outfield "play deep"
